The Founder
I’m Ben. One of my earliest memories as a child is receiving a box for my birthday full of random items I could use to build with…think empty paper rolls, pipe cleaners, small pieces of wood, string, etc. To me, this was better than anything on the shelves at the store because it gave me the elements I needed to bring my imagination to life.
Fast forward a few decades and I’m still fueled by a passion to create what doesn’t exist. I’ve moved on from paper rolls to longer lasting materials, but the excitement and commitment to innovation remains the same. I graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Entrepreneurship. In founding Ecliptic LLC, I have created a company focused on bringing innovative products to market that improve everyday life.
As a creator, I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to the pain points experienced throughout my daily routine. I examine the frustrations I experience, turning them over and inside out in my head until a solution reveals itself. This thought process is what led me to the creation of the Eclipse candle lid, the first product from Ecliptic LLC.
Outside of developing new products, I enjoy playing my keyboard, producing music, exercising, and cruising on my motorcycle.
The Company
Ecliptic, LLC (“Ecliptic”) is a U.S. based startup company located in Massachusetts which was formed by Benjamin Houston in 2020 in order to develop and produce innovative products that improve everyday life. After years of brainstorming, researching, tinkering, engineering, and collaboration, Ecliptic’s first invention, the Eclipse candle lid, was born.
What is Eclipse?
Eclipse is an automatic candle extinguisher that replaces the lid for the most popular candles, providing enhanced control over your candle for a better, safer experience. The gasketed design allows for a tight fit on many standard container candles. With a single twisting motion, the lid opens, revealing the wick for lighting, and continuing the motion sets a timer for how long the lid will remain open and allow the candle to burn. The window on top displays the amount of burn time which can be set in 15 minute increments up to a maximum of 3 hours. When the set time has expired, the lid quickly closes and extinguishes the candle by depriving the flame of oxygen. Eclipse is fully mechanical and does not require any batteries or other power sources to function. Constructed of high quality and high temperature metals and plastics, Eclipse can take the heat. It’s reliable, easy to use, and built to last, ready to be used with your favorite candles over and over again.
